The Keikyo Institute was founded in 1951 in Tokyo,Japan and is dedicated to the research, dissemination and protection of the Christian history of Asia with a particular emphasis on Japan and China as the two dominant cultures of Asia.

The word `Keikyo` is the early name of the Church of the East in Japan and China which means the `shining` or `brilliant` religion.

In particular the institute seeks to dismiss the commonly held belief that Christianity never reached Asia but in fact it brought the the concepts of democracy and freedom, medicine and social welfare and Eastern Christianity to Asia long before the West. It is to these roots that Asia must return if it is to regain the greatness it once had.

The Keikyo Institute operates The Eastern Cross Musem - the only Christian History Museum in Tokyo, Japan, regular tours to Christian sites in Japan, China, Korea, Macao, The Philipines and other areas as they are discovered.
